Most like an Arch

Two of my good friends got married last March. They also bought a house and I had been meaning to get a housewarming gift for them. I developed this piece of typography for them, taking the line from the poem I read at their wedding - "Most like an Arch" by John Ciardi. Pictured here is the final piece (unframed - just a screenshot) and some of the sketches leading up to it (phone photos, not the best quality ever!). Great day and two great people!

Coimbra Signage

Coimbra is one of the most beautiful cities i've ever visited. So much beautiful art and design everywhere.

Amsterdam Signage

I was going through an old hard drive recently and came across loads of photos of signage and typography taken in various cities around Europe and the world. I never posted them when I took them, I just saved them for my own reference. Featured in this post are a few photos from Amsterdam in 2009. It always amazes me how other countries seem to have a much stronger visual culture in terms of design than we do.

I'll do a post of these once a month from various cities, until I have most of them online. Enjoy!

NOLA nostalgia

It's Mardi Gras today in New Orleans, so i'm getting nostalgic for our trip last year.

I took sooo many photos on that trip, here are some screenshots of the typography related ones, just for nostalgia central.

Invitation Handdrawn Typography

A draft of some handdrawn wedding invitation typography i'm working on, I like it so far! Though maybe it's a bit too blobby, let's see where it goes...

Forbidden Fruit!

I was at Forbidden Fruit this weekend in Dublin, it was a brilliant way to spend the June bank holiday weekend! I've been working with POD for the last number of months to produce promotional design work for the festival (see top poster). I also designed merch for the festival, i've featured the tees here, I designed a hoodie and art print as well.

This was a really enjoyable job, projects where I can indulge in loads of colour and handdrawn text are my favourite! For more info on the project, check my website here.
