Canada 2012

We're recently back from our honeymoon, 3 weeks in Canada. We took in a lot of BC and Alberta and I took A LOT of nature photos! We travelled Vancouver - Victoria - Whistler - Lac le Jeune - Jasper - Lake Lousie - Banff - Calgary

Besides spending time in the national parks (breathtaking stuff!) we also made it to Calgary Stampede. It was so much fun and a total contrast to our peaceful time in the Rockies! I loved all the colourful food stalls at the Stampede, they mixed retro / kitsch and Americana.

Here are a few shots of the trip. There are more on my Flickr.

Our Wedding!

So we got married on June 23rd this year, wohoo!!! It was really busy leading up to the wedding (hence how quite i've been on the blog). It was such a great day!! I posted a bit about the various crafty things I was doing coming up to the wedding. I worked with our amazing florist, Jill Wild to develop the style for the day. I based all the graphic elements on a beautiful invite illustration done for us by our good friend (and deadly comic book artist) Will Sliney .

Here are a few pics from the day, our photographers were also friends; Shane Cronin, Dawn Sheehan and Tanja Warkentin. There are so many other details that we never got a photo of, like the lovely seating plan created by Jill with place cards I designed based on Will's illustration. My hair and make up was by Picasso (can't recommend them enough) and I got my dress in Say I Do. I'd love to do re-live it all again!

Brief Exchange - Final Submission

Here's my final submission to Brief Exchange, as usual I was working right up to the deadline!

I submitted a short rationale as well as follows:

"Nature vs Nurture".

Research on the brief quickly led to the dark topics of eugenics and human animal husbandry.  In these debates the female body and foetus are often reduced to delivery mechanisms and products.  The resulting work references DNA and incorporates female and foetal imagery to allude to these debates.

I'm really looking forward to the exhibition and seeing the other work!  It's all the brainchild of the very talented Noeleen Doheny and the follow up to last year's Full Circle exhibition. Check out the lovely poster below...
